Climate
Uttarakhand (Uttaranchal) experiences a cool and pleasant climate throughout the year. However, the state witnesses heavy snowfall in peak winters (Nov-Feb) and equally heavy rainfall from July-Sep. The best time to visit is between Apr & June or between Sep-Nov.
Language
Garhwali
and Kumaoni are the two dialects of Pahari language that are spoken in the state, along with Hindi and English (in tourist spots).
Connectivity
Uttarakhand (Uttaranchal) has two airports, Jolly Grant at Dehradun and at Pantnagar; a few train stations - major ones at Dehradun, Haridwar and Kathgodam; and the rest of the state is well connected by good roads.

This state of several districts is grouped in two divisions - Garhwal and Kumaon. 90% of India's picturesque hillstations are located in Uttarakhand... Nainital, Mussoorie, Pauri, Almora, Ranikhet, Binsar , Champawat, Auli, Lansdowne, Naukuchiyatal , Bhimtal and many more. India's popular and first national park Corbett is located here.
Most of the rivers that feed almost the entire country originate in Uttarakhand... Bhagirathi (Ganga), Alaknanda, Mandakani, Pindari, Tons, Yamuna, Kali, Nyaar, Bhilangana, Saryu and Ramganga.
The four most holy pilgrimages of India - to Gangotri (source of river Ganga ), Yamunotri (source of river Yamuna ), Badrinath (confluence of rivers Alaknanda & Dhauliganga or Lakshmanganga) and Kedarnath (confluence of rivers Alaknanda & Mandakini ) - collectively referred to as Char Dham in the icy Garhwal Himalayas, is a rejuvenating spiritual experience for the devout Hindu, releasing one from the cycle of birth and death, thereby delivering salvation.
Rishikesh and Haridwar are two of the other main pilgrimage centres in the state. Some ancient temples can be found in the towns of Lakhamandal, Paataal Bhuvaneshwar, Jageshwar, Dwarahaat, Someshwar and Baijnath.
