Climate
Tiruchirapalli (Trichy) has hot summers and cool winters with average temperatures between 20 and 37 deg. celsius. The important point to remember about Tamilnadu is the northeast monsoon bringing rain in spurts between Oct-Dec.

The Rock Fort is a spectacular monument perched on a massive rocky outcrop that rises abruptly from the plains to tower over the old city. With its excellent infrastructure facilities, Tiruchirapalli (Trichy) serves as a good base to see central Tamilnadu.

Today the city is a thriving commercial centre and is famous for artificial diamonds, cigars, handloom cloth, glass bangles and wooden and clay toys. Other places to visit are Thirvanaikovil, Vekkaliamman, Vayalur, Samayapuram, Gangaikondancholapuram, St. Lourdes Church,  Hazrath Nathervali, Mukkombu Grand Anaicut (Kallanai Dam) and Puliancholai.

The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam , 6 km north of Trichy, is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in South India, and is the largest temple complex in the world (according to Templenet). This temple is built on an island in the middle of river Cauvery and connected to the mainland by a bridge. The temple is replete with excellent carvings and numerous shrines dedicated to various gods.
