Climate
Thanjavur with a
tropical climate, has no wild
swings in temperature between summer
and winter. Apr-May are the
hottest months (temperatures soaring to 40 deg.
celsius), while cooler months are from Nov-Feb, but minimum
temperatures rarely dip below 20 deg. celsius.
The important point to remember about Tamilnadu
is the
northeast monsoon bringing rain
in spurts between Oct-Dec.
Language Tamil is the most

bommai'); the 'Thavil', a
percussion instrument; the 'Veenai' , a classical string
instrument; Tanjore
Paintings (uniquely styled wherein artists combine
the canvas background with glass, metals, etc. to depict scenes from Hindu
mythology); and Tanjore Art Plates (made of
colour glass pieces, aesthetically cut and embedded on
velvet cloth, with images of gods or birds in the
centre).
