The Pench National Park in Seoni District of South Madhya Pradesh runs in continuation with Pench National Park in Maharashtra . As prey concentration is high along the Pench River, tigers usually inhabit this belt. There is also an abundance of birds after the monsoons.

Climate
The Pench National Park is open to visitors from Oct-June and closed during the rainy season (July - Sep). The best time to visit this park is during summer as the wildlife come out of their natural habitat in search of water and waterholes. Pench experiences a tropical climate with hot summers and cold winters with average temperatures of 19-32 deg. celsius. Pench receives monsoon showers from Jul-Sep.

During summer and in the dry season, the park abounds in wildlife, while the cooler season is best for spotting birds. Leopards, jungle cats, small Indian civets and palm civets are also prevalent but seen rarely. Cheetal, sambar, nilgai, jackals, wild dogs, herds of gaur, sloth bear, langurs, rhesus monkeys and chinkara are commonly seen.

Pench boasts of more than 210 species of birds that include several migratory ones. Commonly seen are peafowl, red jungle fowl, crow pheasant, crimson breasted barbet, red vented bulbul, racket tailed drongo, magpie robin and lesser whistling teal.

An old Ghuggusgarh Fort is situated on the western bank of river Pench and is in West Pench Range of the Reserve.
