Stop: Noida
Noida came into
existence to reduce the pollution
load in Delhi and shift some industries
here. Though not successful initially, from
mid-eighties, more people moved their residences and
many IT firms shifted offices to Noida in the
wake of comparatively cheap rent and
lucrative tax incentives coupled with modern
communication, transport and
technological facilities
.
Lately Noida has
become a prominent hub for
multinational firms outsourcing IT services.
Many large software and BPO
companies have their offices in the city.
Commercial activities have also risen in the
past couple of years due to a sudden spurt in
malls and multiplexes. As
far as essential services go, almost every
sector in Noida has a school and
hospital.
A famous landmark is the War
Memorial inside the Golf Course,
that commemorates Battle of 1803 for the control of Delhi.
Noida also has the largest colony in Asia for serving or
retired Defence Personnel
.
It is proposed
that Noida will host the first ever Indian
Formula One Grand Prix during the
2010 Formula One season. A bigger city,
Greater Noida is fast developing where 'the
roads are wider, air
is cleaner, power
cuts are unheard of and
proactive governance is a way of
life.'
