Naukuchiyatal Lake has a length of 983 m, breadth of 693 m & depth of 40.3 m. This famous nine cornered lake is considered auspicious because the Pandavas are supposed to have bathed here. Legend dictates that anyone who spots all the nine corners of the lake at one go becomes a millionaire.

The wooded slopes are thick with oak and pine. The lake is in a picturesque location. A haven for birdwatchers, nature lovers and the regular tourist, it provides an ideal setting for outdoor activities. The forest attracts scores of migratory birds during the winter season.

Among excursions nearby, one can visit Sat Tal and Bhim Tal which have well developed water sport and boating facilities. Located in the vicinity is Nainital, also known as `Lake Paradise'.
