or Nasik is a
rapidly developing city in Maharashtra
state. It is one of the holy
cities for the Hindus with legends abound and also
where the Kumbh Mela is celebrated.
This Wine Capital of India has several

Climate Nashik has an
extreme climate, with dry, hot
summers, (May being the hottest month with maximum
temperature reaching 44 deg. celsius), and
cold winters, (December being the coldest
month with minimum temperature of 5 deg.
celsius, even zero deg. celsius sometimes). The
monsoon brings ample rains in the
months of July-Aug when it becomes
hot and humid. The months of
Sep-March are the best to
visit
Nashik.
Language The main languages are Hindi,
Marathi and English (in tourist
spots).

the City of Grapes, in and around Nashik are
several vineyards and
wineries, the wines from
which are exported to all parts of the world.
Legend
has it that Lord Rama, hero
of the epic Ramayana, spent the
major part of his exile here at
Panchavati (the northern part
of river Godavari which
flows through the city). The Kumbh
Mela (Sinhasth) the
greatest and most important of Hindu periodical fairs
is celebrated once in 12 years at
Nashik.
Known for its picturesque surroundings and
pleasant climate, Nashik has
forests abounding in flora and
fauna, and the jungle trails
are a paradise for ornithologists
who have sighted rare species here.
There are many man made lakes in Nasik,
notably Wagad, Chanakapur, Gangapur and
Darna lakes.
