Climate The climate in Munnar is
pleasant throughout the year. Summers
(Apr-June) are mild, while
winters (Nov-Feb) are cool. The weather ranges between
0-10 °C (50 °F) in winter and 15-25 °C (77 °F) in summer. The
best time to visit
Munnar is between the months of
Oct-Mar. However, even the monsoons
are lovely with many streams and
rivulets in the area.
Language Malayalam and
Tamil are the languages spoken but one can
communicate in basic English in some tourist places.

Munnar plays
host to a variety of birds, including a good
number of migratory birds. Among the
exotic flora
found in the forests and grasslands in Munnar is the
Neelakurinji, a flower which bathes
the hills in blue once every twelve years.
The Eravikulam
National Park, a picturesque terrain of rolling
grasslands and
sholas, spread over 97 sq km, is a
sanctuary for
the endangered mountain
goat of South India, the Nilgiri
Tahr.
Anamudi, the
highest peak (8085 ft)
south of the Himalayas, towers over the sanctuary and makes an
ideal place for trekking with facilities
provided and tourists allowed to go up on foot.
