The Eravikulam National Park, a picturesque terrain of rolling grasslands and sholas, spread over 97 sq km, is a sanctuary for the endangered mountain goat of South India, the Nilgiri Tahr.

Anamudi, the highest peak (8085 ft) south of the Himalayas, towers over the sanctuary and makes an ideal place for trekking with facilities provided and tourists allowed to go up on foot.
