Set in the
middle of well-laid gardens with water
channels, Vijay Vilas Palace has
marble fountains as well as all the elements
of Rajput architecture with a
central high dome, Bengal side
domes, coloured glass windows,
carved stone jalis, extended
porch and other exquisitely stone carved
elements.
The palace has its
own private beach,
maintained in an eco-friendly manner to
preserve its pristine beauty. There is also a wind
farm on a picturesque beach nearby. Mandvi has some
very beautiful houses reflecting the fusion of
Indian and European styles
of architecture. The Swami Narayan
Temple is also another example with its brightly
painted exterior and elaborate plaster decorations.
Dwarka, the kingdom of Lord
Krishna is an important Hindu
pilgrimage centre with a popular
Krishna temple.
Somnath is also important to Hindus
as it is one of the twelve
jyotirlingas (symbols of light) of Lord
Shiva.

places in and around Mandvi are the girls' high school
(a former palace), the light house,
