Climate

Most of the sights are located within 8-10 km from the city of Kollam (Quilon). Houseboats can be rented from various operators and the eight-hour boat trip between Kollam and Alappuzha (Alleppey) , is the longest and a most enchanting experience.

The district also has some interesting historic remnants and a number of temples built in the traditional ornate architectural style. Other places worth seeing are the Thirummulavaram and Thangasseri beaches , the semi circular Kochupilamood Beach (Kollam beach), the light house at Thangaserri (standing 144 ft (44 m) tall), Maruthimala, Thenmala, Residency Palace Ashramom, Adventure Park, Jetayu para and Palaruvi water falls.
