Climate
As in most places in Kerala , Kochi (Cochin) has three seasons ranging from hot in summer to the wet monsoons in June-September to a cool winter from mid-October to January. Average temperature varies between 20°C-35°C.
Language
Malayalam is the main language, but in most tourist places, shops and important establishments, English is also spoken.

From being an important spice trading centre on the coast in the ancient days to a strong naval base in the early 1900s, Kochi (Cochin) is now a mix of modern malls, waterways, forts, old temples and colonial churches .

The Arabs, Chinese, Dutch, British and Portuguese seafarers have left their impressions on the town, with the Chinese fishing nets in Fort Kochi ( believed to be erected in 1350 AD, swaying in the breeze ), the Jewish Synagogue at Chenmangalam, Dutch Palace & Cemetery, Portuguese Architecture at Bolghatty Palace , Bolghatty Island , all of it enriching Kerala 's heritage.

The Chinese Fishing Nets, found only in Kochi (Cochin), outside China, are used by many fishermen to earn their livelihood. A stroll along the Fort Kochi beach at sunset, with these nets and sailing ships in the background, is a memorable experience.

St. Francis Church, Vasco house (Vasco da Gama is believed to have lived in this old Portuguese house), Maharaja’s Hill Palace at Tripunithura, Santa Cruz Basilica, Palliport (Pallipuram) Fort, Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary, Parikshith Thampuran Museum, the narrow streets of Fort Kochi and Mattancherry, Willingdon Island (a manmade island, headquarters of the Southern Naval Command), Cherai Beach, Veega Land (South India's largest amusement park), Museum of Kerala History, Kalamassery and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium , attract tourists from all over.
