Climate The climate of Jamnagar is hot
and humid. The best period to visit
is in winter between
Nov-Feb, when the weather is cool
and pleasant. In
summer (Apr-June) temperatures can reach
46°C. Good Rainfall in
monsoon (July-Sep) gives relief
from the hot summer.
Language The main languages are Gujarati,
Hindi and English (in tourist
spots).
Jamnagar is well-known for its
four marble Jain temples. Today its known for
its tie-and-dye work on
fabrics, silk and
gold embroidery. The famous
cricketer Jamsaheb Ranjit
Sinhji ruled this princely state from
1907 to 1933.
Jamnagar has
shot to prominence as Reliance Industries,
India's largest private company, established the world's
largest refinery near Moti
Khavdi village. It is also home to Essar
Oil, another important oil refinery of
India.
Marine
National Park, on the coral reef
island of Pirotan, is a
unique ecosystem covering 42 islands
supporting thousands of species of marine
iota including seven species of
mangroves, several species of herbs,
grosses and shrubs, 120 species
of algae, many species of sponges,
corals, fish, crabs, reptiles, birds, giant sea anemone,
jellyfish, seahorses, octopi, oysters, starfish, bonellia,
sepia, lobsters and dolphins.

Kambhalia Gate, Kotha Bastion (an
old arsenal in the middle of the city lake),
Lakhota Palace Museum, Manekbhai
Muktidam (a unique cremation ground with a
garden and hundreds of statues of gods), City
Lake/Lakhota Fort,
Rozi and Bedi Ports,
Solarium (designed to utilize solar radiation for the
cure of skin and other diseases), Ranjit
Sagar reservoir, Sasoi Dam, Kileshwar
Mahadeo and Dwarka (a Hindu pilgrimage
centre).
