Hassan was founded by
Channa Krishnappa Naik, a Palegar in 11th
century ( Hoysala Dynasty) when
Jainism was an influential
religion.

ClimateHassan is called as 'Badavara Ooty
' because of its climate.
Pleasant most of the year, summers
are warm, April is the
hottest month with the mean daily maximum
temperature around 35°C and a mean daily minimum of 20°C.

Karnataka as one can visit
several temples nearby, all of which have some amazing carvings and
sculptures from the Hoysala
architecture. Some of them include the unique
Hasanamba Temple, (where
the enshrined Goddess is
represented by an anthill, and the temple is
open to visitors only for a week
every year in October), Siddeshvara
temple, Belur, Halebid and
Shravanabelagola.
Other
interesting things to do are to shop for small mementos made
of
terracotta and soap stone,
stone carvings and idols and
sculptures and take a bite into Hassan's
popular Ragi (millet)
balls eaten with
mutton curry or vegetable
stew.
