With
black lava rocks and soft white sands
of the beaches south of
Benaulim, South Goa is much cleaner and
quieter than most of the famous beaches of Goa.

More about Goa
South
Climate Goa enjoys a tropical
climate with hot summers from
Apr-mid June, heavy monsoons from end-June to
September and cool winters from end-Sep to
March. Goa receives the full blast of the
Indian monsoon with sudden
downpours and tropical
thunderstorms. However it is also during the monsoon
that Goa is probably at its most beautiful,
with greenery sprouting all
around.
Language Along with English which
is widely spoken all over Goa, Konkani,
Marathi and Hindi are the main
languages.
If you are
into the local wildlife, do go up the
River Sal to see
the bats, their wing-span can reach up to a
metre! This area is stunningly beautiful.
Bambolim is a relatively small
beach frequented by locals. Bambolim
is also the location of the campus of Goa
University and the Goa Medical
College and Hospitals along with
the Army Signal Corps.
Mobor Beach is
the last section of beach, separated from the next stretch by
the River Sal as it meets
the Arabian Sea. The beach is
wide, the sand
yellow, and there are beach
shacks selling food. Varca
beach, which is not as commercialized and crowded as
other major beaches, attracts visitors without fail since it
is cleaner.
Majorda beach is
famous for other reasons apart from the scenic sands. This
beautiful beach is popular for its bakery
which specializes in the baking of European
bread. The bread is fermented using the juice of
coconut palm (toddy) and numerous
tourists come here to taste it.
If you drove in from the southern state
of Karnataka
and wanted to discover the
nearest, reasonably well-known Goan beach, chances are that
you’ll be directed to Palolem.
Palolem is a beach of white sand facing a
blue bay between two headlands. You can also persuade the
local fishermen to take you out to the little wooded
islands on the northern headland or to spot
dolphins.
The Cavelossim
beach is famous for its dolphin spotting tours
and expeditions. Longest among all beaches in Goa,
Colva stretches twenty kilometres
along the Arabian sea, and one can see beautiful
pre-colonial bungalows that dot the village.
Water sports on Colva beach
comprises mainly of jet skiing and
speed boat rides.
