The old city streets have fascinating shops to explore, where you can pick up the famous Maheshwari and Chanderi sarees, gold and silver jewellery, hand-embroidered clothes, genuine antiques and bric-a-brac at reasonable prices.

Bhopal is famous for its hand embroidery using velvet, gold and silver metal threads and semi precious gemstones. The craftsmen create wonderfully dressy evening bags, stoles and slippers straight out of Arabian Nights.
