Climate
Andhra Pradesh has extremely hot and dry summers (with temperatures shooting upto 45 deg. celsius) and cool winters.
Language
The official language of the state is Telugu, while English is also commonly spoken in major towns. Various dialects of Telugu like Telengana; a local slang Hyderabadi (a mix of Urdu, Hindi & Telugu), Urdu and Hindi are the main languages.
Connectivity
The state has several airports and all the cities are well connected by trains. The national highways running through Andhra Pradesh and many of the state highways are smooth and wide, making road travel a pleasure.
The medieval city of Hyderabad with the Charminar, Salar Jung Museum and Golconda Fort is the capital. It also has also the largest IT parks and largest Film City in Asia - Ramoji Film City , on the outskirts of Hyderabad . Hyderabad / Secunderabad, the state capital has grown by leaps and bounds in the last decade, due to the information technology boom, making it one of the top metros in India.
Tirumala Hill in Tirupati (the holy city), has a temple dedicated to the Hindu god, Sri Venkateswara or Balaji, and is believed to be the busiest Hindu pilgrimage centre in the world and draws thousands of pilgrims everyday. Warangal, the capital of the Kakatiya rulers was once the heartland of Telugu culture .
The golden beaches at Vishakhapatnam (Vizag), the one million-year old limestone caves at Borra, picturesque Araku Valley, hill resort of Horsley Hills, river Godavari racing through a narrow gorge at Papi Kondalu , waterfalls at Ettipotala, Kuntala and rich bio-diversity at Talakona, are some of the natural attractions of the state.
Telengana cuisine, apart from the spicy pickles, has a variety of dishes in vegetarian and non-vegetarian like pulusu (a tamarind based liquid gravy), pappu (essentially lentils), gonghura mamsam (tangy mutton curry with a predominant flavour of ghongura, the local plant leaves used in cooking the curry) and of course, the hyderabad biriyani and mirchi ka salan , available exclusively in this state.
