South west of
Jaipur

is an oasis wrapped in the green
hills. The city was founded by Raja Ajay Pal Chauhan
in
the 7th Century A.D. and today, it is a popular
pilgrimage centre for the Hindus as well as
Muslims; a centre of culture and
education and is also the base for
visiting Pushkar ,
the abode of Lord Brahma, the Hindu god.

Climate Ajmer enjoys a typical desert
type climate, with very hot summers
from Apr-June (temperature can go upto
45 deg. celsius) and cool
winters from Nov-Feb. Both in
summers and winters, there is a wide
difference between the day and night temperature. In
the monsoons, the first rain covers the city in green.
Language Rajasthani, Hindi
and English (in tourist spots) are the main languages.

India's best public schools), Soniji Ki Nasiyan or
Lal Mandir (depicting Hindu and Jain mythology
and civilizations), Taragarh Fort, the museum, Pushkar
(with its 400 temples and
52 bathing ghats, where
devotees throng in large numbers in Oct-Nov to take a dip in
the Pushkar
Lake), Kishangarh (famous
for marbles, has a Fort and Phool Mahal (Flower
Palace)), Foy Sagar Lake and Sai Baba
Temple.
